Everyday Music is teaming up with top Liverpool-based improvisation organisation Frakture to bring you a whole day of hands-on improv!
Partnered by Music Leader NW and aso supported by Drake Music Project, the day features four chunky sessions for exploring improv from four different angles.
‘Vocal Play’ is for singers, vocalists and anyone who uses their voice creatively. Led by Anne-Marie Howard of SWIM (Sound Workshops In Music).
Snap:Out Of It’ is for all instrumentalists and vocalists. Focusing on techniques to help you identify and move on from habits acquired over the years, it aims to refresh and awaken your musical senses. Led by Phil Morton of Frakture. Phil has many years experience as a player and promoter of improvised music, and a strong working knowledge of tried and tested strategies such as contained in John Stevens’ Search & Reflect handbook.
‘Improv in Workshops’ is for anyone who uses improv in workshops either in community or educational settings. We will exlore how improvisation, when combined with guided discussion, can be used to promote musical, personal and educational growth among the participants. Led by Martin Milner, a musician and educator who has worked in formal and informal education settings for over 20 years.
‘Freeplay’ is for everyone and anyone! Pretty much does what it says! We nearly called this ‘shut up and play’, but we thought that would be rude! In this session you will experience group improvisation as a team sport. Bring your contribution, take what you want it’s up to you.
The day is at the Zion Arts Centre in Hulme, Manchester, on Saturday 1st December.
Arrive at 9.45am for registration. The first session starts at 10am. The day ends at 5.15pm
Full day: £15 (£10 concessions (Includes lunch)
Half-day: £10 (£7.50 concessions)
